Upcoming events

LVF Education 

  • Our June knowledge session is taking place tomorrow! It will be on Using requests for information to hold governments to account on pollution and nature in person at The News Building or online at 6.30 pm. The session will be led by Nia Simeonava, a reporter covering carbon markets and biodiversity and will explore the legal framework of freedom of information regarding the conduct of public bodies and how it can be used to uncover information about the state of the environment in the UK and internationally.   • July Knowledge Session: LVF’s next knowledge session will be taking place in July on Science and corporate defences in the courtroom. This Knowledge Session will focus on how scientific evidence is used by claimants in strategic climate litigation and on the types of corporate defences the courts have grappled with in these cases. Further details on the session including speakers will be shared in the coming weeks!
  • July members-only webinar: We will be hosting a webinar in late July with Eoin Jackson, who will give a case law update on climate litigation in Ireland.

LVF Community

  • We are very excited to be organising our second Legal Careers event this year! It will be a Saturday in October at Kings College London. This year we want to hear from you on what careers you are exploring and we will be posting polls on our Linked In to gather your feedback. More information will be shared about the event in the upcoming newsletters, email and LinkedIn!

LVF is always thinking of fun new community events and we would love to hear from our members if you would like a film night or another form of informal gathering!

  • 16-17 June (online)/ 19-20 June (in person) UKELA Annual Conference: The UKELA Annual Conference is taking place 16-17 June (online) and 19-20 June in person at the University of Warwick. The programme is now live here, with plenary sessions that will explore: Water Resources in 2026 – problems and solutions. Balancing Net Zero ambitions and nature recovery; New Towns: Implications for the Environment; The rise of group litigation, andInternational opinions and their application to the UK. Alongside plenaries there will be keynote addresses from Monica Feria-Tinta and Craig Bennet. Ticket information here.
  • 3 June: Regulating AI in the EU: From the AI Act’s ‘Green Silences’ to trustworthy Governance – European Law & Governance School (online): an online webinar examining the enforcement of the EU AI Act, the hidden environmental costs of tech acceleration. Register here.
  • 15–20 June: LSE Festival 2026 — How to Save the Planet (LSE, London, and online): A week of free public events on the climate crisis, conflict and AI. Sessions likely to interest LVF members include panels on the politics of climate change and green industrial policy. All events are free; tickets (in-person and online) open on 18 May.   • 13 June 2-3PM: Mindful Movement & Mudra Embodiment in Nature by Bethnal Green Nature Reserve: breath and movement afternoon. For more information on this event and others organised in June and July by Bethan Green Nature Reserve, please see their website here.
  • 20–28 June: London Climate Action Week 2026 (London): London Climate Action Week is the largest independent city-wide climate event in Europe, with hundreds of events across the city hosted by NGOs, universities, legal organisations and more. Free and open to all. Programme and registration here.
  • 25 June, 6.30–8 pm: Global Trends in Climate Change Litigation 2026 — Report Launch (LSE Grantham Research Institute, London, and online): The launch of the Grantham Institute’s annual report on global climate litigation, now in its eighth year. A panel of leading climate lawyers will discuss what’s changed, where cases are being brought, and what growing corporate accountability looks like in practice. Free, register here.
  • Until November 2026: Gathering Around at the Tate (London): this exhibition highlights the connection between environmental and social justice, inviting us to reimagine our relationships with the natural world and each other. More information here.
  • Ongoing during 2026 (London): Birkbeck and LSE have a number of events as part of their climate festivals running throughout the year. See also Climate Connection for more London climate events.
