Our impact
The impact we want to achieve is simple and inherently tied to our tripartite mission, as follows:
🌱 Empowerment 🌱
We want every junior lawyer to feel empowered to speak up when they find themselves in the circumstances where pressing planetary and societal issues are being ignored or downplayed.
🍃 Education🍃
When speaking up, we want every junior lawyer to have enough knowledge about these issues to do so with confidence and authority.
🌿 Community🌿
When in doubt or need for support, we want every junior lawyer to have a trusted network of peers, who they can call on to help them responsibly form their views, critically check their understanding and confidentially share their own experience.
LVF gives a voice to junior lawyers on the climate and ecological crises, so they feel empowered to play their part in the transition to the net zero, nature-positive, circular society that lives within the planetary boundaries.
LVF allows junior lawyers to gain the benefit of high-quality education on important planetary and societal issues.
LVF gives junior lawyers the opportunity to connect with a community of peers in a safe and welcoming space.
Our activities
There are lots of ways you can get involved and learn more about the climate and ecological crises with us.
Monthly Knowledge Sessions
- We run monthly educational sessions on different topics related to planetary and societal issues.
- Our knowledge sessions are free, open to all, and accessible to non-lawyers. All our knowledge sessions are hybrid events.
- Each session includes a substantive presentation, interview with one or more experts and opportunity for group discussion and networking.
- Explore our upcoming and past knowledge sessions.
Members Only Webinars
- We run exclusive webinars which are smaller, focused learning sessions.
- During the webinars, our members have the opportunity to connect with interesting speakers.
- These shorter sessions offer a ‘deep dive’ into more specific topics.
Blog Posts
- Explore our Resources page, a new collection of written articles and resources.
- If you have a passion for a particular topic related to climate, environment and related societal issues, you can write and submit your own content to us! just send us an email at legalvoicesforthefuture@gmail.com.
- We aim to facilitate the sharing of developments, ideas, news and other items of interest among our members.
Networking and Careers Events
- We host networking and careers events, and build networking into our knowledge sessions too.
- We encourage our members to engage in cross-sector collaboration, share ideas and support each other.
- We host an annual careers focused event – Legal Careers for a Sustainable Future – featuring expert speakers who give insights into their careers.
