We are very excited to launch our Book Club 📚!
We will be hosting a bi-annual book club with our members, where we will come together to discuss books on a particular theme. We will be sharing a list, rather than a single book, on the theme so that we can come together to have diverse discussions and so members have the freedom to choose a book which interests them. We will then encourage our members to swap books on the list to share knowledge but also to ensure we are using the books more than once
*If you’re not a member yet, sign up for free here*
🐝Our first theme will be on insects 🐛
Insects are an often overlooked part of biodiversity but they play a pivotal role in the regulation of ecosystems and are suffering from the impacts of climate change. We wanted to look deeper into this topic and at the role of insects in planetary change. Our books of choice are:
- Rebugging the Planet: Remarkable things that insects (and other invertebrates) do and why we need to love them more by Vicki Hird.
- Silent Earth – Averting the insect apocalypse by Dave Goulson
- Hidden World: how insects sustain life on earth by George McGavin
- Forget Me Not: Finding the forgotten species of climate change by Sophie Pavelle
- Metamorphosis: how insects are changing our world by Adrian Washbourne and Erica McAlister
- The Bees by Laline Paull
We will be coming together in July, at our soon-to-be announced LVF Community event, to discuss and swap our books – keep an eye out for further announcements over email on the date/time/location! We will then pick the second theme as a group.
We can’t wait to see you there.
